CNC Programmer – Must have Esprit experience
Summary
Responsible for: Developing, implementing, and optimizing CNC programs for various machining operations to support the production of high-precision components. This role requires an advanced understanding of machining processes, materials, and tooling, as well as the ability to interpret technical drawings and CAD models. Additionally, also involves program simulation, validation, and continuous improvement of machining process to ensure high-quality production and efficiency. Work requires individual initiative and good communication with all parties involved in the machine shop process.

Position Duties
Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:
 

  • Develop, edit, and optimize CNC programs using Esprit and Mastercam software. MUST have Esprit experience.
  • Generate NC programs for maintaining equipment such as, CNC lathes, mills, mill turn, swiss style, and wire EDM machines;
  • Operate and provide training on operation of equipment.
  • Validate CNC programs through simulation and dry runs to ensure functionality and prevent machine collisions.
  • Ensure all programs comply with safety and quality standards, including GD&T and ISO/AS compliance if applicable.
  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to generate accurate tool paths and machining strategies.
  • Establish methods, routes and sequences for machining operations; prepare operations planning sheets for production and prototype parts; review and update as required. 
  • Ensure conformance to latest engineering revision. 
  • Maintain and organize program files and documentation, ensuring version control and traceability
  • Adapt and/or assist in the design of standard and special production machinery. 
  • Troubleshoot and provide technical information and assistance to operators in the performance of critical machining operations and on the operation of new equipment. 
  • Act as liaison with sales and engineering to improve design, ensure programs meet specifications, and reduce material and manufacturing costs.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for efficient machining processes.
  • Spending time on the production floor providing technical support and training for machine operators and other team members.
  • Continuously improves machining processes to enhance productivity and reduce cycle times.
  • Must have good oral, written communications and have a high level of moral and ethical codes. 

Qualifications
Education & Experience:
BS degree in Manufacturing engineering, or the equivalent.  Seven or more years experience in related NC programming utilizing Mastercam or Esprit, manufacturing processes, equipment and tooling. MUST have Esprit experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints.
  • Advanced knowledge of CNC programming and machining operations.
  • Knowledge of material properties and appropriate machining techniques.
  • Strong understanding and proficiency in using G-code, M-code, CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidWorks), and CNC machine operation.
  • Knowledge of a variety of cutting tools.
  • Knowledge of multiple CNC lathe and mill machine controls.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills for precise measurements and calculations
  • Ability to deal with problems involving variable situations in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work well with others in solving problems and developing a solution
  • Ability to use standard measuring tools (i.e. micrometers, calipers and gauges).
  • Familiarity with a variety of materials including aluminum, steel, titanium, and plastics
  • Ability to train and mentor team members

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls.  The employee frequently is required to walk, bend, stoop, kneel, or crouch and reach with hands and arms, climb or balance.

Must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
